SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 425

WHEREAS, Rahr & Sons Brewing of Fort Worth solidified its reputation as a respected beer maker when one of its products was named a national grand champion at the 15th annual United States Beer Tasting Championships; and

WHEREAS, The company's Iron Thistle Ale claimed top honors in the Scottish-style ale category when it won the favor of the event's judges in a blind taste test; and

WHEREAS, This triumph is the latest among several accolades that Rahr brewmaster J. B. Flowers and his staff have earned in prestigious competitions; they previously received four United States Beer Tasting Championships best-in-class awards and a bronze medal in the 2008 World Beer Cup; and

WHEREAS, A brewer that has become well known to beer connoisseurs in North Texas since it began operations in 2004, Rahr & Sons is fast gaining a national reputation for its high quality products, and its success is furthering the Lone Star State's long tradition of crafting excellent beers and wines; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby congratulate Rahr & Sons Brewing for winning the national grand champion prize for Scottish-style ales at the 15th annual United States Beer Tasting Championships and extend to the owners and staff best wishes for continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for the brewery as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
