SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 444
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Clarence A. Johnson for his exemplary efforts in |
|
|
support of education in San Antonio through his work with the |
|
|
Heroes and Heritage Educational Summit; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson is Principal Director and Director |
|
|
for Civilian Equal Employment Opportunity in the Office of |
|
|
Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity at the United States |
|
|
Department of Defense; based at the Pentagon, he is responsible |
|
|
for developing equal opportunity policies and programs affecting |
|
|
all civilian employees of the Department of Defense; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson served our nation for many years as an |
|
|
officer on active duty in the United States Air Force; he held |
|
|
many positions of responsibility, including C141 navigator, |
|
|
squadron commander, and group commander, and he earned many |
|
|
commendations for his service, including the Defense Superior |
|
|
Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Legion of Merit, and |
|
|
the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson has worked tirelessly to foster |
|
|
cooperation between community organizations and students so that |
|
|
those students might receive the internships and jobs that will |
|
|
advance their education and their careers; he is truly deserving |
|
|
of recognition for his dedication to furthering the cause of |
|
|
education in our country; now, therefore, be it |

|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Clarence A. Johnson on his |
|
|
dedication to equal opportunity for all students and extend to |
|
|
him best wishes for continued success in all his future |
|
|
endeavors; and, be it further |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
