WHEREAS, The Chess Club of Lake Country Christian School in
  Fort Worth won nine trophies at the Region II tournament held on
  February 14, 2009; and
         WHEREAS, Competing against 34 schools from across the
  state, Lake Country Christian School brought home championships
  in the Elementary under 500 and Elementary Open categories, while
  the high school team won its third consecutive regional crown;
  moreover, the middle school players also put in a fine showing,
  finishing in second place; and
         WHEREAS, Individual trophies went to Miles Ludington and
  Jared McCluskey for second place, Thomas Abi-Hanna for third
  place, Foster Ludington for fourth place, and Thomas Yee for
  fifth place; and
         WHEREAS, Under the leadership of volunteer coaches Tim
  Matheus and Dr. Wayne Yee, as well as mentor and chessmaster
  Marko Zivanic, the Lake Country Christian School Chess Club has
  enjoyed great success since its founding in 2005, winning 89
  trophies in its first three years; the club has continued its
  excellent play in 2008-2009 and is looking forward to competing
  in the national tournament to be held in April in Nashville,
  Tennessee; and
         WHEREAS, The members of the Lake Country Christian School
  Chess Club have demonstrated great skill and dedication with
  their outstanding performances in the 2009 regional competition,
  and they may take pride in their notable achievements; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby congratulate the Lake Country Christian
  School Chess Club on its resounding success in the Region II
  tournament and extend to its members sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for the club as an expression of high regard by the Texas
        President of the Senate
