SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 500
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Mental Health Mental Retardation Authority of
  Brazos Valley on the occasion of its 35th anniversary, on
  March 26, 2009; and
         WHEREAS, When the authority was established in 1974, it was
  a small organization with 15 employees; today, it functions with
  an operating budget of $12 million and has 240 employees in 14
  service locations; and
         WHEREAS, The authority has established field offices
  in Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson, and
  Washington Counties; it provides care for citizens with mental
  illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and
  developmental delays; and
         WHEREAS, The authority's many services and programs in the
  seven-county Brazos Valley area include Intake Services, Crisis
  Services, Child and Adolescent Services, Rehabilitative Case
  Management Services, Volunteer Services, and Day Habilitation
  Services; it offers an Early Childhood Intervention Program and a
  Community Living Options Program and maintains an Intermediate
  Care Facility for the Mentally Retarded, a community-based
  residential facility; and
         WHEREAS, The Mental Health Mental Retardation Authority of
  Brazos Valley offers valuable and much-needed services to a wide
  range of clients, and its employees are dedicated to helping all
  citizens with mental disabilities reach their highest potential;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commend the Mental Health Mental Retardation
  Authority of Brazos Valley for its many years of outstanding
  service and extend congratulations to all associated with the
  organization on the occasion of its 35th anniversary; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of the Mental Health Mental Retardation Authority of Brazos
  Valley.
