SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 507
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
  recognizing Dr. Luis H. Urrea II, who is serving as the 2009
  president of the El Paso County Medical Society; and
         WHEREAS, The El Paso County Medical Society serves as an
  advocate for local physicians regarding legislative issues and
  fosters good relations between area physicians and the El Paso
  County communities; the society was organized in 1898 and today
  consists of 500 active members; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Urrea is a highly respected El Paso physician
  who has been certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic
  Surgery since 1998; he graduated from The University of Texas
  Southwestern Medical School, where he also completed his
  residency in orthopaedic surgery; he earned a fellowship in knee
  and shoulder surgery at the Steadman Hawkins Sports Medicine
  Clinic in Vail, Colorado; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to the El Paso community and to his
  profession, Dr. Urrea provides first-rate orthopaedic health
  care for area residents; he is a clinical assistant professor at
  the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso and
  serves as a team physician for the Athletics Department at The
  University of Texas at El Paso and the football programs of the El
  Paso, Ysleta, Socorro, and Clint Independent School Districts; and
         WHEREAS, He has given numerous presentations on
  orthopaedic surgery and is the coauthor of a number of
  publications and research articles; his work on knee and shoulder
  reconstruction is extensive and has contributed greatly to the
  field of sports medicine; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Urrea has held leadership positions on the
  Medical Executive Committee of El Paso Specialty Hospital and on
  the Executive Board Committee of the El Paso Orthopaedic Surgery
  Group, and he founded and serves as director of the Free Saturday
  Morning Acute Injury Sports Medicine Clinic; he has truly
  distinguished himself in his profession, and he is an esteemed
  leader in his community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Luis H. Urrea II on his
  outstanding work and accomplishments in orthopaedic surgery and
  congratulate him on his selection as the 2009 president of the El
  Paso County Medical Society; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
