SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 519
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Betty Jean Snyder
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Betty Jean Snyder, who died March 6, 2009,
  at the age of 79; and
 
         WHEREAS, Betty Jean Snyder was born September 10, 1929;
  blessed with an unquenchable desire for knowledge, she traveled
  the state, nation, and world seeking new experiences and
  understanding; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Snyder and her husband, P.B., embarked on
  many journeys to such locales as the Galapagos Islands, the
  Panama Canal, and Hawaii; also in their travels they participated
  in back-country primitive camping, backpacking along the
  Continental Divide, and exploring Europe in a Volkswagen camper;
  and
 
         WHEREAS, An accomplished genealogist and researcher,
  Mrs. Snyder compiled a history of all 254 county seats in Texas;
  she belonged to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and 12 of
  her ancestors were citizens of the republic; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Snyder devoted herself to the activities of
  her sons, Rocky and Grant; she served as a Cub Scout den mother,
  was active in the Parent Teacher Association, and encouraged her
  sons to participate in a wide variety of pursuits, including
  science projects and music lessons; she was active in the
  family's local Baptist church, where she taught Sunday School in
  the primary division; and
 
         WHEREAS, Among Mrs. Snyder's passions was the small plot of
  forested land that she and P.B. acquired in East Texas; her
  impressive skills as a gardener were honed there and transferred
  to her always beautiful yard; and
 
         WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she
  gave unselfishly to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and
  enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be
  forgotten by those who knew her; and
 
         WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife and mother, and her family
  and friends will continue to live with the cherished memories of
  her life and her many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Betty Jean Snyder; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Betty Jean Snyder.
