SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 528
         WHEREAS, With three decades of experience in the field of
  medical oncology, Dr. William M. Jordan retired in December 2008
  as the president of the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders;
  and
 
         WHEREAS, Raised in Fort Worth, Bill Jordan worked his way
  through college, serving as a police officer in Sansom Park for a
  time; he graduated from Kansas City University of Medicine and
  Biosciences in 1973 and completed an internship at the
  Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas and a residency in internal
  medicine at Botsford Hospital near Detroit, Michigan; he
  obtained board certifications in medical oncology and internal
  medicine; and
 
         WHEREAS, After serving as a fellow of medical oncology and
  a faculty member at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer
  Center in Houston, Dr. Jordan returned to Fort Worth in 1979 and
  later established a private practice; he was also a clinical
  assistant professor at the University of North Texas Health
  Science Center at Fort Worth, and he was chair of its Institute
  for Cancer Research; and
 
         WHEREAS, In the early 1990s, Dr. Jordan joined with other
  oncologists to form the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders,
  with a vision to treat patients physically, emotionally, and
  spiritually; he served as president of the institution from its
  establishment in 1994 and saw it grow into one of the most
  extensive community cancer care centers in North Texas, with
  eight locations in Fort Worth and the surrounding areas; and
 
         WHEREAS, This esteemed professional has been an active
  member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Texas
  Society of Medical Oncology, the Southwest Oncology Group, the
  Tarrant County Oncology Alliance, and M. D. Anderson Associates,
  and he also served on the board of the American Cancer Society; in
  addition, Dr. Jordan has volunteered his time in the community as
  a Little League coach and a board member of the YMCA, and he has
  been involved with such organizations as the Republican National
  Committee and First Presbyterian Church; in all of his endeavors,
  he enjoys the love and support of his wife, Becky, and the couple
  have been blessed with three children and six grandchildren; and
 
         WHEREAS, Throughout his exemplary career, Dr. Jordan has
  demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the health and
  well-being of his fellow citizens, and he may indeed reflect with
  great pride on his notable achievements and contributions; now,
  therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby honor Dr. William M. Jordan on the occasion
  of his retirement from the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Jordan as an expression of high regard from the
  Texas Senate.
