SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 551
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Missouri City Chapter of The Links, Incorporated,
  on the occasion of its 30th anniversary; and
         WHEREAS, One of the nation's oldest and largest volunteer
  service organizations, The Links, Incorporated, was established
  in 1946 and is committed to enriching and sustaining the culture
  of African Americans and other people of African ancestry and to
  ensuring their economic success; and
         WHEREAS, The Missouri City Chapter of The Links, comprised
  of 60 civic-minded professional women, has for 30 years provided
  comprehensive programs and leadership by creating health
  initiatives and education and leadership programs for young
  people and senior citizens, and by fostering the visual and
  performing arts; and
         WHEREAS, One of the chapter's signature programs is
  STEM-ulation: Left Brain-Right Brain, which provides eighth and
  ninth grade students with field experiences in the science,
  technology, engineering, and mathematics areas; and
         WHEREAS, The chapter will assemble May 29 through 31, 2009,
  to commemorate its many accomplishments through the years;
  "Celebrating a 30-Year Legacy of Community Service and Honoring
  Exceptional Leadership," is the theme of the weekend's
  highlight, the Emerald Civic Luncheon; the chapter is truly
  deserving of recognition for 30 years of outstanding leadership,
  dedication, and service; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commend the Missouri City Chapter of The
  Links, Incorporated, on its legacy of community service and
  extend to its members best wishes for a memorable 30th
  anniversary celebration; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  this exceptional organization as an expression of esteem from the
  Texas Senate.
