SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 553
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Kathleen Moore Cullum
 
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
  meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and
  friends of Kathleen Moore Cullum of Dallas, who passed away on
  March 11, 2009, at the age of 89; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Cullum was born in Sabinal on July 2, 1919,
  to Clara and Walter Moore; she earned a bachelor's degree in art
  from Southern Methodist University, where she was president of
  Tri Delta sorority; it was also at Southern Methodist University
  that she met her future husband, George Cullum, Jr., on a blind
  date; the couple were married in 1942 and were later blessed with
  three children; and
         WHEREAS, A well-respected member of her community, Mrs.
  Cullum served on the board of the Dallas Woman's Club and was a
  member of the Dallas Country Club, Marianne Scruggs Garden Club,
  Mary K. Craig Class, Dallas Dinner Dance Club, and the Dallas
  Women of Rotary; appointed by Governor Dolph Briscoe to serve on
  the board of regents at Stephen F. Austin State University, she
  was also a valued congregant of Oak Lawn United Methodist Church,
  and she faithfully attended the Lillian Tate Sunday school class;
  and
         WHEREAS, In her free time, she enjoyed cheering on her
  favorite Southern Methodist University sports teams and
  traveling the world with her family; and
         WHEREAS, Kathleen Cullum was a caring and gracious woman
  who is deeply missed, and she will long be fondly remembered for
  her radiant smile and her kind and generous spirit; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Kathleen Moore
  Cullum and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family:  
  to her husband of 67 years, George Cullum, Jr.; to her children,
  Linda and Ray Tunnell, Mark and Sally Cullum, and Philip and Dale
  Cullum; to her grandchildren, Jim and Wendy, Christian and Becky,
  Carolina, Susannah, Leigh and Jason, Beth and Buddy, George and
  Allie, and Callie; to her great-grandchildren, Cullum, Kamryn,
  and George; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
  this day, it do so in memory of Kathleen Cullum.
