SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 555
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the City of River Oaks on the occasion of its 60th
  anniversary; and
 
         WHEREAS, Located in a naturally wooded area along the West
  Fork of the Trinity River, and close to downtown Fort Worth, the
  City of River Oaks officially enacted its city charter on January
  11, 1949; the community can trace its roots to a hundred years
  earlier, when James Ventioner settled in the area and built a
  home and farm; and
 
         WHEREAS, Today, River Oaks is a vibrant community
  dedicated to offering small-town charms with the amenities of
  big-city living close at hand; home of the Castlewood Independent
  School District and facilities like McGee Park, River Oaks
  remains an exemplary place in which to live, work, and raise a
  family; and
 
         WHEREAS, The citizens of River Oaks are commemorating the
  auspicious occasion of their city's 60th anniversary with a
  celebration at the River Oaks Community Center on April 4, 2009,
  featuring western swing music and other entertainment; now,
  therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of River Oaks for their
  many contributions to the rich legacy of our state and extend to
  them best wishes for a memorable 60th anniversary celebration;
  and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
