SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 592
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Dr. Richard Bentley, the recipient of the Adelante Con |
|
|
Ganas Award for April of 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Bentley is the Associate Superintendent of |
|
|
the Division of Academics for the Ysleta Independent School |
|
|
District; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Bentley received an associate of arts degree |
|
|
at the University of Maryland in Munich, Germany, a bachelor's |
|
|
degree from The University of Texas at Austin, a master's degree |
|
|
in educational administration from Southwest Texas State |
|
|
University, and a doctorate in educational administration from |
|
|
The University of Texas at Austin; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Bentley has taught at Houston's High School |
|
|
for the Performing and Visual Arts, where he participated in the |
|
|
development of the first school in the country built specifically |
|
|
for performing arts; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Bentley also served Eanes Independent School |
|
|
District in Austin as a high school and middle school assistant |
|
|
principal and as interim Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum |
|
|
and Instruction; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Bentley and his wife were recognized by the |
|
|
Texas Association of Secondary School Principals, Region XIII, |
|
|
as Outstanding High School and Middle School Assistant |
|
|
Principals in 1993; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, During his tenure at Ysleta Independent School |
|
|
District, Dr. Bentley has coordinated the implementation of |
|
|
curriculum, assessment, and school improvement models; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Bentley has also been a champion for El Paso's |
|
|
"Invest in the American Dream" initiative to promote financial |
|
|
literacy and stability; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Richard Bentley for his |
|
|
contributions to the City of El Paso and extend to him |
|
|
congratulations on receiving the Adelante Con Ganas Award; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
