SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 619

Lenzell Coby, Sr. |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
citizens of Longview and Houston in mourning the loss of Lenzell |
|
Coby, Sr., who died March 10, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Lenzell Coby was born in Gladewater, Texas; |
|
before moving to Longview, he lived in Houston, where he worked |
|
for Emsco Steel and operated Coby's Barber Shop; he attended |
|
Progressive New Hope Baptist Church and was a member of the |
|
Masonic Lodge; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, After moving to Longview, he opened Friendly |
|
Barber Shop and joined Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church, where |
|
he was a faithful member and cochairman of the Deacon Board; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Lenzell was well liked and respected by his |
|
community; known for his wisdom and warmth, he was a mentor and a |
|
source of strength to others; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Lenzell was beloved by many for his good humor and |
|
generous spirit, and he leaves behind memories that will be |
|
treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Lenzell Coby, Sr.; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy |
|
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this |
|
day, it do so in memory of Lenzell Coby, Sr. |
