Wayne Kelley |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
|
citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Wayne Kelley, who died |
|
|
April 12, 2009, at the age of 55; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Wayne Kelley was born October 31, 1953; for more |
|
|
than 20 years, he played an important role in the governance of |
|
|
our state, working with members of the Texas Legislature, |
|
|
legislative committees, and leadership in various state |
|
|
agencies; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Kelley began his career in state service in |
|
|
1976 as a budget analyst with the Office of the Comptroller of |
|
|
Public Accounts; through the years, he worked diligently in both |
|
|
the public and private sectors to help ensure that our state |
|
|
implemented policies that worked to the benefit of all Texans; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Kelley served in a diverse array of positions |
|
|
throughout his career; he provided direction and dedication at |
|
|
the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission, the |
|
|
governor's office, the Texas Department of Agriculture, the |
|
|
Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and the |
|
|
Legislative Budget Board; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he |
|
|
gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, kindness, and valued |
|
|
counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and his |
|
|
family and many friends will continue to live with the cherished |
|
|
memories of his life and his many accomplishments; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Wayne Kelley: his wife, Brenda Kelley; and his sons, |
|
|
Marlon and Marvin Kelley; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Wayne Kelley. |
