SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 673

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Coppell Independent School District on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Coppell Independent School District was created in 1959 by a vote of local citizens; throughout the years, the district has provided exceptional service and professional instruction reflecting a steadfast commitment to educating students on an academic, social, and physical level; and

WHEREAS, The district has grown steadily since its inception and now encompasses 15 campuses serving nearly 10,000 students at nine elementary schools, three middle schools, two high schools, and an alternative campus; the district's second high school, New Tech High, opened in 2008 and uses a 21st-century collaborative and project-based learning model; and

WHEREAS, The district works hard to ensure that its students achieve personal success, develop strong moral character, and become dynamic and productive citizens through an innovative learning system led by a creative and involved faculty and staff, and the excellent school system in Coppell has contributed greatly to the city's growth and its residents' quality of life; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend the Coppell Independent School District for 50 years of educational excellence and extend best wishes for a memorable 50th anniversary celebration; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the district as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
