SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 699
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Greater Houston Chapter of the National |
|
|
Association of Minority Contractors, Incorporated, on the |
|
|
occasion of its third annual Black and White Scholarship Gala, |
|
|
which is being held at the Petroleum Club of Houston on April 24, |
|
|
2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The National Association of Minority Contractors |
|
|
is dedicated to upholding traditions of high-quality, |
|
|
professional educational services for the construction |
|
|
community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since the next generation of contractors will |
|
|
come from the young people of today, members of the National |
|
|
Association of Minority Contractors believe it is their |
|
|
responsibility to invest, encourage, and train youths to become |
|
|
influential, successful contractors who can thrive in a |
|
|
competitive market; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The third annual Black and White Gala will provide |
|
|
the means for the Greater Houston chapter to award scholarships |
|
|
to deserving minority high school, junior college, and college |
|
|
students who major in construction, architecture, or |
|
|
engineering; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Greater Houston Chapter of the National |
|
|
Association of Minority Contractors is providing a valuable |
|
|
resource for minority contractors in the Houston area, and its |
|
|
goal of helping young people prepare for a future in the |
|
|
construction industry is indeed worthy of recognition; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Greater Houston |
|
|
Chapter of the National Association of Minority Contractors, |
|
|
Incorporated, for their worthy efforts and extend to all best |
|
|
wishes for a successful Black and White Scholarship Gala; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
