Pablo Salcido |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of longtime public servant Pablo Salcido, |
|
who died April 18, 2009, at the age of 52; and |
|
WHEREAS, Pablo Salcido was a 1974 graduate of El Paso High |
|
School, where he was student body president, played quarterback, |
|
and played trumpet in the marching band; he earned a bachelor's |
|
degree from Austin College and a master's degree from the Lyndon |
|
B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, After serving in the Peace Corps in Honduras, he |
|
worked for San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros and was part of the |
|
economic development team that brought Sea World to Texas; he |
|
returned to El Paso in the late 1980s to work in economic |
|
development and later worked with emerging local governments in |
|
Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvador; and |
|
WHEREAS, Returning to El Paso in 2006, he became president |
|
and chief executive officer of the housing authority; he moved on |
|
to work for the Paso del Norte Group and then for Tigua, |
|
Incorporated, as head of business operations; and |
|
WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Mr. Salcido was passionate |
|
about any task he undertook; he was a natural leader, known for |
|
his unflagging enthusiasm and great problem-solving skills; a |
|
man of integrity, strength, and courage, he was dedicated to |
|
helping others and serving his community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Pablo Salcido was a devoted husband and father, |
|
and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by |
|
his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Pablo Salcido: his wife, Cheryl; and his children, |
|
Jordan, Briana, and Alyssa; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Pablo Salcido. |
