SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 719
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Pablo Salcido
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of longtime public servant Pablo Salcido,
  who died April 18, 2009, at the age of 52; and
         WHEREAS, Pablo Salcido was a 1974 graduate of El Paso High
  School, where he was student body president, played quarterback,
  and played trumpet in the marching band; he earned a bachelor's
  degree from Austin College and a master's degree from the Lyndon
  B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas;
  and
         WHEREAS, After serving in the Peace Corps in Honduras, he
  worked for San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros and was part of the
  economic development team that brought Sea World to Texas; he
  returned to El Paso in the late 1980s to work in economic
  development and later worked with emerging local governments in
  Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvador; and
         WHEREAS, Returning to El Paso in 2006, he became president
  and chief executive officer of the housing authority; he moved on
  to work for the Paso del Norte Group and then for Tigua,
  Incorporated, as head of business operations; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Mr. Salcido was passionate
  about any task he undertook; he was a natural leader, known for
  his unflagging enthusiasm and great problem-solving skills; a
  man of integrity, strength, and courage, he was dedicated to
  helping others and serving his community; and
         WHEREAS, Pablo Salcido was a devoted husband and father,
  and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
  his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Pablo Salcido: his wife, Cheryl; and his children,
  Jordan, Briana, and Alyssa; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Pablo Salcido.
