SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 732

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the late J. Marvin Hunter, who is being inducted into the Frontier Times Museum Hall of Honor in Bandera on July 25, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hunter established the Frontier Times Museum to showcase the exploits of the pioneers whose courage and strength of character played a major role in the opening of the West and the creation of the icon known as the true Texan; and

WHEREAS, In addition to creating the Frontier Times Museum, Mr. Hunter was a writer whose works continue to inspire those who treasure our state's history; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hunter helped promote an interest in frontier history and the achievements of our forefathers, and his effort to preserve the firsthand accounts of their lives has enriched our understanding of the struggles they faced; and

WHEREAS, J. Marvin Hunter embodied the principles and courage exhibited by the early pioneers memorialized in his Frontier Times Museum, and it is truly fitting that he be given this singular honor on July 25, 2009, the National Day of the American Cowboy; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life and work of J. Marvin Hunter; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of his work on behalf of our state.
