SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 748
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Mark Groneman, who is stepping down as mayor of Vega
  after more than 20 years of outstanding service to his community;
  and
 
         WHEREAS, Mr. Groneman began his career in public service in
  Vega at the age of 28; in 1981 he was elected city commissioner as
  a write-in candidate and after serving two terms as city
  commissioner, he was elected mayor in 1985; after a break in his
  service, he was elected in 1995 and has served as mayor since
  then; and
 
         WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Mr. Groneman has been
  noted for his superior skills and expertise; he played an
  important role in the acquisition of numerous community
  development block grants for the city, which led to many
  improvements in its water, sewer, and road systems; and
 
         WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, Mr. Groneman has handled
  his responsibilities as mayor with exceptional efficiency and
  dedication; and
 
         WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, Mr. Groneman is
  respected and admired by his colleagues and constituents, and his
  presence as mayor of Vega will be greatly missed; now, therefore,
  be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commend Mark Groneman on his outstanding
  service to the citizens of Vega and extend to him best wishes for
  continued success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
