SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 760
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the University of Houston Black Alumni Association on
  the occasion of its 20th anniversary; and
 
         WHEREAS, Founded as a special interest constituency of the
  University of Houston Alumni Association, the University of
  Houston Black Alumni Association has served as a vehicle to
  address the needs and issues of African American students,
  faculty, and alumni; and
 
         WHEREAS, The theme of this outstanding organization's 20th
  anniversary celebration is "Honoring Our Roots. . .Celebrating
  20 Years--Planted. Strong. Enduring."; it will bring together
  original chair Gene Locke and many other alumni to reminisce and
  to recognize their service to the university; and
 
         WHEREAS, This distinguished gathering will also raise
  funds for endowed scholarships and other worthy programs to
  further advance the interests of the university, the
  organization, and the community; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commend the members of the University of
  Houston Black Alumni Association on their many contributions to
  the university and extend to them best wishes for a memorable
  20th anniversary celebration; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
