SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 767
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Tim Curry
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of longtime Tarrant County district
  attorney Tim Curry, who died April 24, 2009, at the age of 70; and
         WHEREAS, Tim Curry was 33 years old when he became Tarrant
  County's top prosecutor in 1972; born in the small town of Tulia,
  he graduated from Texas Christian University and Baylor Law
  School and soon joined his father and brother in their Fort Worth
  law firm; and
         WHEREAS, He became involved with politics when trying to
  find a candidate for the district attorney's office then known
  for widespread corruption; when his candidate backed out, Mr.
  Curry accepted the challenge himself, and while he would go on to
  win every subsequent election, he had a longstanding reputation
  for his ability to keep politics out of the district attorney's
  office; and
         WHEREAS, Tim Curry was admired and respected for his legal
  expertise, his unassuming personality, and his high ethical
  standards; he won praise for his straightforward and sincere
  approach in fulfilling the demands of his office; in 2007, he
  received the Blackstone Award, the Tarrant County Bar
  Association's highest honor; and
         WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and son, and he
  leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his
  family and his many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Tim Curry: his wife, Jan; his daughter, Beth; his son,
  Cullen; and his mother, Rae; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Tim Curry.
