SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 772
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the members of the class of 1954 of the Phillis
  Wheatley High School in Houston, who are gathering June 12
  through 14, 2009, to celebrate the 55th anniversary of their
  graduation; and
 
         WHEREAS, The reunion of the Phillis Wheatley High School
  class of 1954 is an opportunity for the class members to
  reminisce about the many high school adventures they shared and
  recall their affection for their teachers and coaches as well;
  and
 
         WHEREAS, Located in the inner city of the historical Fifth
  Ward near downtown Houston, Phillis Wheatley High School is
  renowned for its outstanding graduates, who have gone on to
  achieve success in such areas as law, medicine, education, music,
  sports, art, government, and community and pastoral leadership;
  and
 
         WHEREAS, In gathering to celebrate their 55th reunion, the
  members of the class of 1954 are expressing their longtime
  commitment to tradition, unity, and loyal friendship; now,
  therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commend the members of the class of 1954 for
  their many accomplishments and extend to them best wishes for a
  joyful and rewarding reunion; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  them as an expression of regard from the Texas Senate.
