SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 801
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize The University of Texas at San Antonio on the occasion |
|
|
of the institution's 40th anniversary; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The University of Texas at San Antonio was created |
|
|
by the Texas Legislature in 1969, and by 1973, more than 670 |
|
|
students had enrolled in its graduate level courses; today, the |
|
|
university can claim an enrollment of more than 28,000 students |
|
|
and a total of 72,000 alumni; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The university is now one of the fastest-growing |
|
|
public universities in Texas and a proud component of The |
|
|
University of Texas System; the school generates an annual |
|
|
economic impact of $1.2 billion; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature, The University of Texas |
|
|
System Board of Regents, The University of Texas at San Antonio |
|
|
Development Board, the university's alumni, the City of San |
|
|
Antonio, Bexar County officials, and many public and private |
|
|
sector partners have helped The University of Texas at San |
|
|
Antonio to build on a tradition of access and opportunity; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The university has emerged as a national research |
|
|
university that provides world-class research and educational |
|
|
opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students and that |
|
|
prepares students for the global environment; now, therefore, be |
|
|
it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend The University of Texas at San |
|
|
Antonio on its long-standing commitment to serving students and |
|
|
extend best wishes to all associated with the university for an |
|
|
outstanding and memorable 40th anniversary celebration; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
The University of Texas at San Antonio as an expression of high |
|
|
regard from the Texas Senate. |
