SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 805
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay
  tribute to Jewel Walder on the grand occasion of her 100th
  birthday; and
         WHEREAS, This gracious lady is well known for her charm and
  generosity of spirit, and she is a revered resident of her
  community; and
         WHEREAS, Jewel Walder was born to Barge and Annie Smith on
  May 27, 1909, in Hallsville; she married Luther Walder, and the
  couple had three sons; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Walder, who is affectionately known as Mama Jewel,
  has watched her cherished family grow to include 11 grandchildren, 32
  great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Walder worked for many years at Parkland
  Hospital and at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, from
  which she retired in 1975; and
         WHEREAS, A devout Christian, she practices her faith in her
  daily life, and she is a member of Marsalis Avenue Church of
  Christ; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Walder is a beloved and respected member of
  her community; she is noted for her courage, her compassion for
  others, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby recognize Jewel Walder as a treasured
  citizen of our state and congratulate her on her 100th birthday;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as a memento of this special day in her life.
