SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 807
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Howard A. Halff
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Howard A. Halff,
  who died April 14, 2009, at the age of 83; and
         WHEREAS, Born December 20, 1925, in San Antonio, Howard
  Halff graduated from Jefferson High School and from The
  University of Texas with a degree in chemical engineering; he
  served as a commissioned officer in the United States Naval
  Reserve; and
         WHEREAS, Howard worked as an engineer in various
  capacities for Texaco for 38 years; he retired from his
  employment in New Orleans and returned to San Antonio where he
  became active in ranching; and
         WHEREAS, He was dedicated to his work as a leader in his
  community and gave his support to The University of Texas at
  Austin, the McNay Art Museum, Boysville, the San Antonio
  Zoological Society, Temple Beth-El, and the Juvenile Diabetes
  Research Foundation; and
         WHEREAS, He was an exemplary gentleman who was respected
  for his many accomplishments and his strong character and
  generosity; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Halff gave unselfishly of his time to others,
  and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten
  by those who knew him; and
         WHEREAS, Beloved by his family and friends, Howard Halff
  leaves behind memories that will be deeply treasured by all who
  were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Howard A. Halff: his wife, Betty Murray Halff; her
  daughters and son, Melissa Murray Jeffery, Dundee Murray
  Whealen, and Luke; and his brother, Alex H. Halff; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Howard Halff.
