SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 814

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Gina Conway, who is retiring from her service in the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, Gina is 38 years old and is retiring in June after 20 years of loyal service; she joined the navy following her graduation from high school; and

WHEREAS, Gina grew up in Copperas Cove, Texas, and she plans on living in Central Texas after her retirement; during her years of service, she was stationed in facilities all across the country; she was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, twice, which included four years of service at the submarine training facility; she is currently serving in a detachment in Naples, Italy, where she has been stationed since 2007; and

WHEREAS, During her years of duty, Gina earned numerous medals for exceptional service; her awards include one Navy Commendation Medal, five Navy Achievement Medals, one Global War on Terrorism Medal, two National Defense Medals, and two Overseas Ribbons; she also achieved a marksman pistol award and a marksman rifle award; and

WHEREAS, Gina Conway is an exemplary woman who has faithfully served her country; throughout her years of service in the navy, she has consistently demonstrated courage and strong leadership and has handled her many responsibilities with skill and tenacity; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend Gina Conway on her outstanding service on behalf of her nation and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of Gina Conway as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
