SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 818
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Barbara Jean Jones-Vickers, who is retiring on June 4,
  2009, after 20 years of outstanding service to the Dallas
  Independent School District; and
 
         WHEREAS, A 1961 graduate of James Madison High School, Mrs.
  Vickers earned a degree from Bishop College and joined the Dallas
  Independent School District in 1989 after working in the private
  sector for many years; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Vickers served as the lead instructor in the
  Career Connection Department at the H. W. Longfellow Career
  Exploration Academy; an inspiring and gifted teacher, she
  captured the imagination and attention of her students; and
 
         WHEREAS, A positive influence in the lives of her students,
  Mrs. Vickers gave generously of her time and energy to help them
  with their work, and she instilled in them a sense of pride and a
  lifelong love of learning; and
 
         WHEREAS, An exemplary educator who was named Teacher of the
  Year on more than one occasion, Mrs. Vickers is respected and
  admired by her colleagues and students alike, and her presence at
  the H. W. Longfellow Career Exploration Academy will be greatly
  missed; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commend Barbara Jean Jones-Vickers for her
  exemplary contributions to the Dallas Independent School
  District and extend to her best wishes for the retirement years
  ahead; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
