SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 821
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Hidalgo Early College High School on its selection as
  one of three high schools in the nation to earn the 2009 College
  Board Inspiration Award; and
 
         WHEREAS, Each spring, the College Board selects three of
  America's most improved secondary schools to receive its
  Inspiration Awards; the schools are recognized for their
  outstanding college preparatory programs and for the working
  partnerships among teachers, parents, and community
  organizations; and
 
         WHEREAS, The Hidalgo Early College High School is a product
  of the Hidalgo Independent School District's mission to promote
  college attendance for all of its students; the students begin
  taking college course work during their freshman year and can
  earn up to 60 college credits at no cost to their families; and
 
         WHEREAS, The high school nurtures a "college-going"
  culture and promotes connections to postsecondary education for
  all of its students; recently, the school was rated 11th among
  the top 100 "Best High Schools in America" by U.S. News and World
  Report; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commend the entire Hidalgo Early College
  High School community on the exceptional educational
  opportunities offered by the school and extend congratulations
  to all on its selection for a prestigious 2009 College Board
  Inspiration Award; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of Hidalgo Early College High School.
