SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 831
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Ricardo B. Calderon
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Valentine in mourning the loss of Ricardo B.
  Calderon, who died April 19, 2009, at the age of 92; and
         WHEREAS, Richard Calderon was born in Candelaria, Texas,
  on April 4, 1917; he moved to Valentine with his family while
  still a young child; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Calderon served in the United States Army
  during World War II in the North African Theater as an engineer
  technician; he was the survivor of a land mine explosion, which
  left him with a broken skull and back; and
         WHEREAS, Upon his recovery, he attended a barber school in
  Lubbock, and he went on to have a successful career as a barber
  for over 40 years; he cut hair for the people of Valentine, Van
  Horn, Marfa, and Pecos; he was very proud to have served his
  country and would often share his stories of military experiences
  with others; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Calderon was an exemplary gentleman who was
  beloved by many, and he was respected in the community for his
  courage, strength, and generous spirit; he was married to Maria
  Rios Calderon, and the couple was blessed with two daughters, a
  son, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Richard Calderon was a devoted husband, father,
  and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be
  treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Ricardo B. Calderon; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Richard Calderon.
