SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 847

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Hidalgo Early College High School Pirates boys' soccer team, which recently won the University Interscholastic League Class 4A state championship title; and

WHEREAS, The Pirates were victorious in their second appearance at the state tournament, defeating Poteet High School of Mesquite by a score of 2-0 in a game that saw increasing intensity throughout; and

WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great talent and perseverance throughout the school year, ending the season with an 18-6-2 record; team members can take great pride in their outstanding performance; and

WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of head coach Esequiel Morales, the Pirates have developed exceptional teamwork and discipline; and

WHEREAS, Hidalgo Early College High School and the City of Hidalgo are proud of the Pirates for their hard work, their impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend the Hidalgo Early College High School Pirates on their successful season and extend congratulations to them on winning the University Interscholastic League Class 4A state championship title; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
