SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 857

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Teresa Lyons, who has been selected to receive the 2009 General Aviation Airport Manager of the Year Award; and

WHEREAS, Manager of the Hereford Municipal Airport, Teresa has been selected for the award by the Aviation Division of the Texas Department of Transportation and will receive the award at a banquet on May 12; and

WHEREAS, A second-generation pilot and an advocate of aviation, Teresa is a graduate of Texas A&M University; she became manager of the Hereford Municipal Airport five years ago, when less than half of the hangars were occupied; and

WHEREAS, Since she became manager, revenues at the airport have increased dramatically, largely due to her presence and 24-hour service; as the area served by the airport has grown, Teresa has accommodated the increase in activity at the airport and has consistently provided high-quality service for all types of aircraft; and

WHEREAS, The consummate professional manager, Teresa handles everything from technical meetings to fueling aircraft to mowing grass and repairing lights; the airport is now in the phase of moving forward on an improvement project to purchase land and provide new facilities; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend Teresa Lyons on her outstanding leadership and management of the Hereford Municipal Airport and extend congratulations to her on her selection as the 2009 General Aviation Airport Manager of the Year; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
