SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 874

WHEREAS, Wayne Wang of Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 885 in Houston has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and

WHEREAS, This notable young Texan entered scouting at the age of eight as a Webelos Cub Scout and went on to earn several awards, including the prestigious Arrow of Light; since then, he has been a distinguished member of Troop 885, holding positions as quartermaster, troop guide, and senior patrol leader; and

WHEREAS, In the course of meeting the Eagle Scout rank's demanding criteria, Mr. Wang earned the requisite 21 merit badges and successfully completed a community project, coordinating and implementing improvements to the Hana and Arthur Ginzbarg Nature Discovery Center; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Wang is currently a senior at Bellaire High School, where he is manager for the orchestra, treasurer of the Ultimate Frisbee Club, and member of the Robotics Club and National Honor Society; he has also volunteered his time to support the Christian Student Union, Red Cross, and Reach Out; after graduation, he plans to attend The University of Texas; and

WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Wang's dedication to excellence and his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby congratulate Wayne Wang on becoming an Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for happiness and success in the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Eagle Scout Wang as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
