SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 885
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the San Antonio chapter of Service Corps of Retired |
|
|
Executives, also known as SCORE, on the occasion of SCORE |
|
|
Appreciation Day Across Texas, which is being celebrated May 20, |
|
|
2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The San Antonio Chapter of SCORE, also known as |
|
|
the Alamo Chapter or Chapter 164, has been serving the San |
|
|
Antonio area with free counseling and guidance to start-up |
|
|
businesses, nonprofits, and ongoing businesses since its |
|
|
chartering on December 23, 1975, with the guidance and support of |
|
|
the United States Small Business Administration; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For nearly 43 years, these counselors have |
|
|
voluntarily contributed their time and expertise to provide |
|
|
assistance in such diverse fields as insurance, real estate, |
|
|
construction, financial planning, business taxes, inventory |
|
|
management, and computer and data processing; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of SCORE, also known as "Counselors to |
|
|
Small Business," have offered workshops on starting and |
|
|
expanding a business, developing a business plan, marketing, and |
|
|
other business-related topics; they also provide invaluable |
|
|
assistance through face-to-face and electronic-mail counseling, |
|
|
helping to strengthen the business climate in the San Antonio |
|
|
area and throughout the nation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Counselors have also formed a Speakers' Bureau, |
|
|
with speakers available to speak for free to interested clubs, |
|
|
businesses, associations, and schools; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the members of the San Antonio Alamo |
|
|
Chapter of SCORE for their service as "Counselors to Small |
|
|
Business" and declare May 20, 2009, SCORE Appreciation Day Across |
|
|
Texas; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|
|
honor of this special day. |
