SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 890
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the management and staff of McDonald's and Texans across the
  state in celebrating May 13, 2009, as Salad Day 2009 at the Texas
  Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Sponsored by the owners and operators of
  McDonald's, Salad Day 2009 offers an opportunity for restaurant
  industry representatives to discuss pertinent issues with Texas
  legislators and share information with them about the positive
  impact the industry has on the economy of our state; and
         WHEREAS, With nearly 1,100 locations across Texas
  employing more than 43,000 Texans, McDonald's restaurants have a
  substantial impact on the state's economy; and
         WHEREAS, McDonald's restaurants contribute to local
  communities by returning nearly half of every dollar earned in
  revenue to local economies; in 2007 alone, McDonald's
  restaurants collectively spent $1 billion in Texas communities;
  and
         WHEREAS, The owners and operators of McDonald's and the
  restaurant industry as a whole are a vital part of our state's
  economy, and Salad Day 2009 offers an opportunity to highlight
  their many contributions to our state; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commend the owners and operators of
  McDonald's and other industry representatives for their many
  contributions to Texas communities and extend to them a sincere
  welcome to the State Capitol for Salad Day 2009; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
