SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 892

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize H-E-B and The Meadows Foundation for their charitable efforts on behalf of victims of family violence; and

WHEREAS, The demand for services for victims of family violence has increased in Texas during the past few months; and

WHEREAS, H-E-B and The Meadows Foundation have donated more than $600,000 in 2009 for direct services to aid Texans seeking emergency assistance because of family violence; and

WHEREAS, The Meadows Foundation and H-E-B have responded quickly and affirmatively to an urgent need for funding for the operation of the National Domestic Violence Hotline, as well as community-based programs; and

WHEREAS, The Meadows Foundation has contributed more than $3 million in the last five years to 29 domestic violence programs in Texas; and

WHEREAS, H-E-B has focused its giving during 2009 on basic needs for families and a continued commitment to the communities served by H-E-B; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend H-E-B and The Meadows Foundation for their concern for victims of family violence and their response to funding requests from the National Domestic Violence Hotline and Texas Council on Family Violence; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for these outstanding organizations as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
