SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 907
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Elmer Buckley
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Laredo in mourning the loss of civic leader Elmer
  Buckley, who died May 5, 2009, at the age of 76; and
         WHEREAS, Elmer Buckley made significant contributions to
  his community and earned the admiration and respect of all who
  knew him; he helped organize the South Texas Economic Development
  Office, and he was vice chairman of the South Texas Workforce
  Development Board; and
         WHEREAS, He served on the Laredo Planning and Zoning
  Commission from 1994 to 2002 and as a special assistant to then
  Mayor Aldo Tatangelo from 1978 to 1982; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Buckley served in the Marine Corps during the
  Korean War; a proud marine, he was recognized as the 1997 Marine
  of the Year for the State of Texas, and he was state commandant of
  the Texas Marine Corps League from 1998 to 2000; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Buckley worked on many Republican political
  campaigns, and he served as Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge; he
  was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves
  memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many
  friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the family of
  Elmer Buckley: his wife, Esther; his children, Trina, James,
  Catherine, Christopher, Rebecca, George, Jennifer, Thomascyne,
  Tara, Thomas Edward, Tim, and Toni; his brother, William; his
  sisters, Geri and Vida; and his grandchildren; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Elmer Buckley.
