SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 915
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize LBJ High School principal Patrick Patterson, who has |
|
|
been named the 2009 Austin Independent School District Principal |
|
|
of the Year for Secondary Schools by Partners in Education; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Patrick Patterson began his career in education |
|
|
in Chicago, where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in |
|
|
education from Chicago State University and taught high school |
|
|
algebra and physical education; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He moved to Austin in 1983 and began teaching at |
|
|
Blackshear Elementary School; he attended Southwest Texas State |
|
|
University and earned certification in administration and |
|
|
elementary education; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He became an assistant principal at Summitt |
|
|
Elementary School in 1990 and served as principal at Reilly |
|
|
Elementary School, Dobie Middle School, and Lanier High School |
|
|
before moving to LBJ High School in 2004; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Patterson has demonstrated exceptional |
|
|
leadership and management skills and has had great success in |
|
|
developing effective student, parental, and community |
|
|
relationships; he is associated with numerous professional |
|
|
organizations, and he has received several awards; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He has worked diligently to raise the academic |
|
|
level at LBJ High School by creating a positive, nurturing |
|
|
learning environment; he has skillfully handled the many |
|
|
complexities of being a principal and educator, and he is indeed |
|
|
worthy of recognition for his fine achievements; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Patrick Patterson for his many |
|
|
contributions to the Austin Independent School District and |
|
|
congratulate him on being named 2009 Principal of the Year by |
|
|
Partners in Education; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
