SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 916
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Billie Allyn Hamrick
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Corpus Christi in mourning the loss of Billie Allyn
  Hamrick, who died May 11, 2009, at the age of 83; and
         WHEREAS, Bill Hamrick was born September 23, 1925, in
  Brownwood, Texas; he graduated from Howard Payne University, where
  he received Little All-America Honors as a football player; he
  served as a United States Merchant Marine during World War II; and
         WHEREAS, His exceptional career in education as a teacher, a
  coach, and an administrator spanned 47 years; his work with the
  Corpus Christi Independent School District included serving as a
  coach at Carroll High School and a principal at Ray High School; and
         WHEREAS, He was dedicated to his work in the Corpus Christi
  community; he served on the school board and spent his retirement
  years in volunteer service to the local hospitals and assisting
  patients with their appointments; and
         WHEREAS, He was an exemplary gentleman and was respected
  for his leadership in the field of education and in the
  community; he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Edith Loyd
  Hamrick; and
         WHEREAS, Bill Hamrick was beloved by his family and friends
  and by his community, and he leaves behind memories that will be
  deeply treasured by all who were privileged to share in his life;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Billie Allyn Hamrick; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Billie Allyn Hamrick.
