SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 938
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Dolores Longoria Garcia
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Laredo in mourning the loss of Dolores Longoria
  Garcia, who died April 17, 2009, at the age of 95; and
         WHEREAS, Dolores "Lolita" Longoria was born August 10,
  1913, in Monterrey, Mexico; she married Pablo Garcia but was
  widowed early in life at the age of 33; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of strong character and determination,
  she endured many hardships, but she prevailed in raising her 10
  children by herself and in living a life full of zest, energy, and
  enthusiasm; and
         WHEREAS, A passionate and caring person, Lolita brought
  joy to many through her vibrant spirit, her witty sense of humor,
  and her warm and loving nature; and
         WHEREAS, She was a devout Christian and a member of the
  Catholic faith, and she was a devoted mother and grandmother; she
  was also a distinguished lady who was musically talented and who
  brought happiness to others when she entertained with her
  singing; and
         WHEREAS, Lolita Garcia was a source of inspiration and
  strength to others and was beloved by her family and friends, and
  she leaves behind memories that will be deeply treasured by all
  who were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Dolores Longoria Garcia: her daughters and
  sons-in-law, Yolanda Garza, Amanda G. Velasquez and Salvador,
  Norma H. Garcia, Dolores "Lolly" Garcia, Hilda Garza and Ramiro,
  Ana Maria Mendoza and Victor, and Maria Eugenia Perez and
  Arnulfo; her son and daughter-in-law, Armando L. Garcia and
  Beverly; and her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Dolores Longoria Garcia.
