SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 939
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Dury's Gun Shop of San Antonio on the grand occasion of |
|
|
the company's 50th anniversary; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dury's Gun Shop is a family-run business that was |
|
|
started by John L. Dury in 1959 after he graduated from Saint |
|
|
Mary's University; Mr. Dury used his knowledge of business |
|
|
management and his skill for gunsmithing to establish the |
|
|
business, working out of his parents' garage until he opened his |
|
|
first shop in 1973; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since its inception, Dury's Gun Shop has been |
|
|
dedicated to meeting the needs of area customers as well as law |
|
|
enforcement officials, including those of the San Antonio Police |
|
|
Department; the company takes pride in providing customers with |
|
|
personal attention and offering a lifetime guarantee on every gun |
|
|
sold; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to its superior merchandise, the |
|
|
company has expanded its services to include a series of seminars |
|
|
that are geared toward providing customers with a more |
|
|
well-rounded experience; the series includes education on |
|
|
helpful hunting tactics and a session specifically dedicated to |
|
|
instructing women on how to properly use a handgun; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dury's Gun Shop is a highly successful business |
|
|
that went from its lodgings in a small garage to a location large |
|
|
enough to employ 27 people, and throughout its history, it has |
|
|
consistently provided high-quality service to the people of |
|
|
South Texas; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Dury's Gun Shop on its first-rate |
|
|
merchandise and service and extend congratulations to all |
|
|
associated with the company on the occasion of its 50th |
|
|
anniversary; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|
|
honor of Dury's Gun Shop. |
