SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 953
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize band students at Morehead Middle School in the El Paso
  Independent School District for their recent outstanding showing
  at the Alamo Showcase of Music in San Antonio; and
         WHEREAS, Seventy-five students traveled to San Antonio to
  participate in the event on May 15 through 16; the showcase was
  promoted by Choice Music Events, a division of the Foundation for
  Music Education, which is dedicated to providing music students
  with positive, educational, and enriching performance
  opportunities; and
         WHEREAS, The Morehead Middle School Band received a rating
  of superior and runner-up trophy at the showcase event; the
  school's program is one of the most successful in the El Paso
  Independent School District; many students have made the
  all-region band, and the percussion, wind ensemble, and
  symphonic bands have won numerous awards for their excellent
  performances; and
         WHEREAS, The students in the Morehead Middle School Band
  are provided an environment conducive to learning and have gifted
  leaders to guide them, and their worthy achievements attest to
  their dedication and perseverance in pursuing their goals; and
         WHEREAS, The Morehead Middle School Band students are
  talented musicians who excelled individually and demonstrated
  outstanding proficiency in their group performances; they are a
  source of tremendous pride for their families and their school
  and they deserve recognition for their many accomplishments;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby commend members of the Morehead Middle
  School Band for their hard work and superb accomplishments and
  extend to them best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
