SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 971

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Peggy Rogers for her generosity and many contributions to the Mabank community; and

WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Air Force, Peggy was a longtime employee of the Internal Revenue Service; since her retirement in 1993, she has devoted much of her time, energy, and resources to public service; and

WHEREAS, Peggy has through the years committed herself to visiting the sick and infirm and ensuring that they have access to their medications and are diligent in taking them; she has regularly and faithfully provided transportation to and from medical appointments for people who need her help; and

WHEREAS, Peggy offers her services every year to those who need assistance with their tax returns, and she has purchased and delivered groceries for people who are unable to do these things on their own; and

WHEREAS, She is a familiar and welcome sight at area nursing homes, and she often brings along homemade tea breads to share with the residents; she is truly deserving of recognition for her compassion and her dedication to her fellow man; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend Peggy Rogers on her public service and her many contributions to the Mabank community; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
