SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 981

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the members of the 2009 class of Akins New Tech High School on the auspicious occasion of their graduation; and

WHEREAS, Akins New Tech High School is the culmination of much research and investigation by the Austin Independent School District to find the most effective high school reform models in the nation; and

WHEREAS, With a project-based learning curriculum, Akins New Tech High School works to ensure that its graduates are ready for both college and a career; students master the required content in a team-taught, integrated program of study; and

WHEREAS, The students at this innovative school have pursued their goals with perseverance and a clear vision for the future; they are truly deserving of recognition for their hard work, their dedication, and their many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, hereby commend the 2009 graduating class of Akins New Tech High School on their outstanding achievements and extend to them best wishes for success in the years ahead; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
