SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1005
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Dr. David Splitek, who is retiring from the position of |
|
|
superintendent of the Lackland Independent School District after |
|
|
a career in education spanning nearly 40 years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of Wisconsin at |
|
|
Madison, Dr. Splitek earned his master's and doctoral degrees at |
|
|
The University of Texas at Austin; he became superintendent of |
|
|
the Lackland Independent School District in 2000 after a career |
|
|
that has seen him serve at nearly every level of the educational |
|
|
system; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Splitek began his career in education as a |
|
|
junior high school mathematics teacher in Albuquerque and El |
|
|
Paso; he went on to teach at Texas A&M University, Trinity |
|
|
University, and The University of Texas at San Antonio and to |
|
|
serve as an administrator in the San Antonio Independent School |
|
|
District; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Active in civic and professional affairs, Dr. |
|
|
Splitek has served with the American Association of School |
|
|
Administrators, the Military Child Education Coalition, the San |
|
|
Antonio Founder Lions Club, and many other outstanding |
|
|
organizations; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A talented and resourceful educator and |
|
|
administrator, Dr. Splitek has handled his many responsibilities |
|
|
with exceptional efficiency and dedication; he is respected and |
|
|
admired by his colleagues, and his presence at the Lackland |
|
|
Independent School District will be greatly missed; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Dr. David Splitek on his commitment |
|
|
to education and extend to him best wishes for the retirement |
|
|
years ahead; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
