SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1050
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize El Maida Shrine Temple in El Paso on the grand occasion
  of its 100th anniversary; and
 
         WHEREAS, El Maida Shrine is a fraternity based on fun,
  fellowship, and the Masonic principles of brotherly love,
  relief, and truth; and
 
         WHEREAS, Shriners are legendary for their humanitarian
  mission, the Shriners Hospitals for Children; renowned as the
  "World's Greatest Philanthropy," it is a unique international
  health care system of 22 hospitals dedicated to improving the
  lives of children by providing specialty pediatric care,
  innovative research, and outstanding teaching programs; and
 
         WHEREAS, El Maida Shriners contribute their valuable time
  and talents to a variety of events throughout the year that raise
  awareness about the Shriners fraternity and its noble mission;
  and
 
         WHEREAS, Shriners affiliated with El Maida Shrine Temple
  embrace the spirit, enthusiasm, and principles of fraternity and
  philanthropy, and they deserve recognition for their support of
  the El Paso community and the Shriners hospitals; now, therefore,
  be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby congratulate the members of El Maida Shrine
  Temple on its centennial and in honor of this event proclaim June
  9, 2009, as El Maida Shrine Day; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
