SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1096
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Amy McBrayer Young
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Amy McBrayer Young, who died on
  September 20, 2008, at the age of 38; and
         WHEREAS, Amy Young wanted to make a difference in the world
  and make it a better place; during her too-short life, she did
  just that; she approached everything she did with enthusiasm, an
  insatiable curiosity, and an energetic spirit; and
         WHEREAS, At the time of her death, she was a public policy
  specialist for the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities,
  where she was a learned student of public policy and a tireless
  advocate for people with disabilities; she previously worked for
  the Senate Research Center and the Texas Legislative Council; and
         WHEREAS, Amy was born in Houston on November 9, 1969; she
  earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from Austin College
  in Sherman and a master's degree from the LBJ School of Public
  Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin; and
         WHEREAS, She gave generously of her time and energy as a
  volunteer for SafePlace and the Texas Council for Family
  Violence; she was an active member of Wildflower Church and
  worked with Austin Interfaith; she enjoyed hiking, kayaking, and
  traveling; and
         WHEREAS, Amy was renowned for her loyalty, her charm, and
  her passion for life, and she was admired and respected by all who
  knew her; a devoted daughter, sister, and friend, she leaves
  behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and
  many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Amy McBrayer Young
  and extend sincere condolences to her bereaved family; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day it do so in
  memory of Amy McBrayer Young.
