TO: | Honorable Dan Branch, Chair, House Committee on Higher Education |
FROM: | John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB101 by Brown, Fred (Relating to the formula funding for public institutions of higher education for certain credit hours that do not count toward a degree.), As Introduced |
Under provisions of the bill, credit awarded by an institution for a course that does not count toward the student's specific degree program at the institution would not be eligible formula funding.
Currently, the Higher Education Coordinating Board has no method for determining when hours apply to a degree; the institutions would have to report this information. However, provisions of this bill could be implemented within existing resources.
