LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 30, 2009

TO:
Honorable Joseph Pickett, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB121 by Heflin (Relating to the fee for issuance of specialty license plates to certain wounded peace officers and to the families of certain peace officers killed in the line of duty.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to set the fee for a set of specialty license plates for certain family members of peace officers killed in the line of duty at $3 rather than $20.

Based on the analysis and information provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), it is assumed the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact to state and local revenue. Also based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
