FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 1, 2009

TO:
Honorable Joseph Pickett, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB121 by Heflin (Relating to the fee for issuance of specialty license plates to certain wounded peace officers and to the families of certain peace officers killed in the line of duty.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to waive the registration fee for one set of specialty license plates for certain peace officers or family members of peace officers wounded or killed in the line of duty. The bill would change the fee for issuance of the plates from $20 to $3.

Based on the analysis of the Comptroller's office, it is assumed the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact to state and local revenue.

Based on the analysis of the Texas Department of Transportation, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
