Honorable Tommy Merritt, Chair, House Committee on Public Safety
FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB149 by Smith, Todd (Relating to the penalty for illegally passing a stopped school bus.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would reduce from $1,000 to $500 the maximum fine for the offense of illegally passing a stopped school bus. The reduction in fine revenue would depend on how often the maximum fine of $1,000 would otherwise have been imposed, but the reduction is not anticipated to be significant.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
