No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require a registered sex offender who enters the premises of a school during standard operating hours to notify the school office immediately regarding his or her presence and registration status and would allow the school to provide a chaperone to accompany the person. The bill would require that registered sex offenders be informed of these requirements by law enforcement authorities. The provisions of the bill would not apply to students enrolled in the school or students attending a school-related activity.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. The bill would require a registered sex offender to notify school administration of the offender’s presence on school premises, and of the person’s registration status. Local law enforcement authorities would be required to inform a registered sex offender of the duty to provide notice to a school administration if the person enters school premises during standard school operating hours.
